DMS equipped car wins Time Attack!
February 9-11, 2007, California Speedway, Fontana CA -
Team Crawford Performance's 2006 Widebody Subaru Impreza STi wins
three awards at the 2007 Red Line Time Attack at California Speedway.
After a very successful 2006, Crawford Performance opened their '07
season at California Speedway on the 13 turn 1.45 mile long
interior road course. Over 85 competitors turned up in droves to
share the track with some of the fastest time attack vehicles and
drivers in the nation, including Crawford Performance's Widebody
Subaru Impreza STi, driven by Tanner Foust in Unlimited Class and
Russ Warr in the Limited/Modified Class.
Saturday's sunny practice session drew quite a crowd from media and
spectators alike. In between interviews with local NBC's affiliate
KNBC and ESPN2's Import Racer, Tanner and Russ were able to dial in
the Crawford Subaru Impreza Sti' new DMS suspension settings along
with the new BF Goodrich G-Force R1's.
It was all for not, as Sunday's rainstorm and the decision to run
in Limited/Modified Class, changed the tire (treaded Kumho V710's)
and suspension settings yet once again. As luck would have it, the
clouds cleared, the rain stopped, and the track dried just in time
for the serious action to begin.
The Crawford Widebody Subaru Sti ended up being a huge crowd
favorite winning three distinguished awards. Russ War took home top
honors (1st place) in the Subaru with an extremely quick 1:11.515
in the Limited/Modified AWD class. Tanner Foust also took home
honors (2nd AWD Unlimited) and nearly broke into the legendary sub
10's barrier with a 1:10.318 in the Unlimited Class. On top of
that, the Crawford Widebody Subaru was awarded as the overall
Limited/Modified Class Champion.
Of course, the times and accolades are even more impressive when
you consider the fact that the Crawford Subaru has a full interior,
is driven to/from the track, ran the exact same tires in Limited/
Modified Class & Unlimited Class, funs solely on the stock Subaru
ECU, plus the Crawford Subaru pulled double duty with two drivers
in two different classes all weekend long. And if that wasn't
enough, Ken Block, DC Shoes co-founder and Rally sensation, took
time from his busy schedule to get some seat time in the wickedly
fast Crawford Subaru. Something tells us, he wasn't disappointed
one bit.
In any case, this was Redline's most competitive and exciting Time
Attack event to date.
Team Crawford looks forward to Redline's next Time Attack series in
Buttonwillow at the end of April. Given the huge crowds and media
coverage at California Speedway, we can only assume the action at
Buttonwillow will be equally, if not more, exciting!
Drive safe and talk to you again soon.
TEAM CRAWFORD
Team Crawford Performance would like to acknowledge everyone who
has helped and who continues to help support us in our Motorsports
adventures. Without Such outstanding support, none of this would be
possible.
Special Thanks: Tanner Foust, Ken Block, Russ Warr. Their input and
patience to share seat time was well received and much respected.
Thank you all.
